Prevention programs are designed to keep children from getting into trouble by providing healthy, structured activities for youth. Using a public health model, prevention programs are those which try to provide young people with the life and resilience skills that will help them make healthy decisions in their lives.
Prevention programs can address academic skills enhancement; provide after school recreation, community awareness, service learning, or leadership development; mentoring; job skills development; and parent/family education.

The Family Stress Center prevents and treats child abuse and neglect, and strengthens families in Contra Costa County by providing counseling, and educational support services focusing on the essential needs of children and their families.
The Family Stress Center provides counseling services, case management and resource linkages, educational services, parent consultant services, and programs for foster children and children removed from their homes.

East County Kids In Motion

Kids In Motion provides multicultural dance lessons to youth ages 3 to 17 years. Through these lessons, youth are taught about adolescent health, values, morals, diversity, integrity and the importance of learning about different cultures.
Cost: $30 per youth; Offered Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6pm-8:15pm.

Mt. Diablo Tae Kwan Do/Hapkido

The Mt. Diablo Martial Arts program teaches self-defense, respect, loyalty, and discipline through a rigorous instruction of three martial arts. This program is available to children, teens, and families.
Cost: $55/person. Offered Monday and Wednesday 5pm-7:30pm
Shorinji Kempo

The Shorinji Kempo Martial Arts program is designed to teach individuals how to defend themselves from violence. The program cultivates physical and mental health, and ecourages youth to be future leaders in any field. Families are encouraged to join together.
Cost: Fees apply. Offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6pm-7pm for children and 7pm-9pm for adults.
Bay Point All Star Cheer & Dance

Bay Point All Star Cheer & Dance provides recreation for youth ages 6 to 18 yrs. Through these activites, youth are expected to have improved teamwork skills, stability, awareness, trust, and community awareness, self-respect, and respect for others.

Cesar Chavez Youth Service

Riverview CARES Program

Riverview CARES (Collaboratives for Academic, Recreation, Enrichment for Students) provides education about Cesar Chavez and his legacy. Youth are connected to the community and inspired to be more involved, leadership skills, completion of community service projects.

Mt. Diablo CARES
This program is located in 5 Bay Point Schools: Bel Air, Delta View, Rio Vista, Shore Acres, and Riverview.

The Mt. Diablo CARES (Collaborative for Academic, Recreation, Enrichment for Students) provides academic, youth development, nutrition, enrichment, and family literacy. Youth Development Leadership Corp. provides mentorship on life skills for youth ages 12yrs-18 yrs. Participants volunteer in the community and develop self-esteemthrough an increased connection to the Bay Point community.

Ambrose Teen Center

The Ambrose Teen Center provides recreation and a safe haven for youth ages 12-18 yrs. Activities are designed to build confidence and strengthen their community connections. To participate, students must maintain satisfactory school performance.

Teen Garden Corporation

The Teen Garden Corp. provides employment and experience with organic gardening for youth ages 14 to 19 yrs. Through this program, teens gain increased awareness of nutrition, increased work experience (students earn a $500 stipend), and improved community leadership skills.
